Doughnut Decadence - Missoula, Montana

Decadent we've-been-working-extra-hard doughnut from Clyde Coffee, (thank you, June!) courtesy of the adventurous Tandem Doughnuts bakers - ultra-yum!
AND if I hadn't been told, I wouldn't have known it was gluten free.
That is some good living under the Big Sky!

Balanced Meal - Missoula, Montana

From left to right, clockwise: S'mores, Salty Caramel, Chocolate Love.
All locally made from scratch from real ingredients, the Sweet Peaks way.
Which inspires so much loyalty that I was at Sweet Peaks twice last night. The first visit was in the company of The Best Husband Ever, Delightful Daughter and We're Watching You Boyfriend, who simply could not wait until after the arrival of my sis and brother-in-law, whose flight from Vegas was delayed a couple hours. Must. Have. Sweet Peaks. Now!
The second visit was with sis and brother-in-law, who buckled up into my car at 9:41 PM and immediately asked, "Are we gonna make it to Sweet Peaks before they close?" at 10:00 pm. Since I have my priorities straight, we made it with 4 minutes to spare.
And for al of this, we are thankful.

Taste of Kiev In Montana - Livingston, Montana

The perfect ending to
a sisters surprise birthday visit: Kiev cake, made from scratch. (Please note that "from scratch" has nothing to do with me, but rather features the baking talents of the lovely Irina, which talents have exacerbated my cake snobbery.) The first forkfuls provoked utter awed silence at the dinner table - a rare feat in our family!

Tomorrow, we savour delights of the visual variety in a jaunt down to Yellowstone Park. Stay tuned!

Key Lime Pie Fix-All - Missoula, Montana

" 'Flappers,' Mrs. Morse said. 'Our mother would have fainted dead away to see all the leg they're showing.'
Mrs. Styles said, 'Mother would have taken a stick to them. Things were better back then.'
Mrs. Morse said she thought some things were better nowadays, but Mrs. Styles didn't see it...
Mrs. Morse said, 'Well, there's nothing you can do about it so why don't I cut you a nice piece of chocolate cake?' She could fix almost anything with a piece of cake - or pie." - from p.167 of The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant

Today's pictured key-lime cure-all was recently self-administered - strictly as a preventative, immunity-building measure, with no dire scenarios in sight - at Iza Restaurant in downtown Missoula. Verdict: a hands-down recommendation for all that ails you - or doesn't!
