Coneflower Circle Poem - Missoula, Montana

"There are poems hidden in the limbs of the willow
Lines of rhyme flowing from the music of the wren
Sonnets sitting like angels atop clouds resting on hilltops
Waiting to instill those with pen and ink to script lyrics to enlighten
There are triolets among the petals of coneflowers, pink, red and yellow..."

After The Storm - Missoula, Montana

"...And now a freshening breeze stirs the leaves on the cottonwood trees,
As tumbleweeds start rollin' up against the fence.

Then the wind blows in a chill, and I catch a whiff of chlorophyll.
That storm must have dropped a streak of hail.
As the front draws closer still, lightning strikes just past the hill,
Hank crowds my leg, tryin' to hide his tail..."

793F Haul Truck: Action Shot - Montana Resources, Butte, Montana

"The tendency of philosophers who know nothing of machinery is to talk of man as a mere mechanism, intending by this to imply that he is without purpose. This shows a lack of understanding of machines as well as of man."

Train Station Re-Creation - Historic Fort Missoula, Montana

"...The names of the stations begin to take on meaning and my heart trembles. The train stamps and stamps onward. I stand at the window and hold on to the frame. These names mark the boundaries of my youth...."

Erich Maria RemarqueAll Quiet on the Western Front

(Don't look too closely at the nameplate on this building, lest you experience a letdown. While the old Drummond, Montana, train station building has found a new life at Fort Missoula, the pictured building is of more recent vintage, but still is an important feature on the Fort grounds.)

we can't rewind we've gone too far..."

This shapely taping setup can be seen up close and in person at the Livingston, Montana, Depot Museum's Film In Montana display. Good times.

Peach Pie Surprise - Missoula, Montana

I've grown accustomed to finding a slice of elaborate cake in the 'fridge on the morning after The Best Husband Ever and the other band lads play a wedding gig. This weekend: Bonus! I woke to find a whole peach pie in our kitchen! Which will take most of the week for two of us to consume. So, stop in for a slice - and bring some vanilla ice cream, would you please?!

(And yes, I realize this post absolutely qualifies for the meme, "Remember when we used to take pictures of our food, wait 'til we finished the roll of film... had it developed, and then ran around to all our friends houses showing pictures of our dinner?...Oh, wait...We didn't!")
