Uncluttered - Near Bozeman, Montana

A couple weeks ago, I added the following focus tip as an 8:15 AM Calendar entry. I read it to start every workday, then move it to the next weekday morning. (Same bat time, same bat channel!) So far, so good - I find it helps clarify my one-thing-at-a-time striving.

#17: "Keep your desk and workspace bare. Treat every object as an imposition upon your attention, because it is. A workspace is not a place for storing things. It is a place for accomplishing things."

Many thanks to my fave life-hacker Tim Ferriss for sharing the link to 100 Tips for a Better Life by by Ideopunk.

Further Down The Road - Bozeman, Montana

"Those roads provided breath-taking views. There's something special about an empty road going on and on and on to the horizon where the sun burns the world away into a dancing, shimmering heat haze that reflects the crystal blue sky, literally blurring the line between heaven and earth."

Winter Waiting, Bozeman, Montana

Perhaps it’s merely an emotional Doppler effect from handling the first seed catalogue in yesterday’s mail, or maybe there really is so much angst-laden waiting projected from this wintry backyard scene.

Waiting for enough sun to eat al fresco dinners on the sheltered patio.
Waiting for new shoots on the bare little shrub that reminds me of the pirated forsythia branches waiting to root in my milk glass vase - the one my sister secretly covets that features vertically aligned white bumps.
Waiting for new, soft, pale tips to peek shyly from the ends of the pine branches.
Waiting for a fresh coat of fence stain to counteract monts of weathering winter.
Waiting for the snow to fully melt and not blow back in overnight.

Interestingly, my initial view of this night-time courtyard produced feelings of cozy peace. Timing is everything, so they say. I don’t care what paranoid thoughts the groundhog had about his shadow - it’s high time for some early signs of spring.

Roofline Arc, Bozeman, Montana

I will forever be amazed by the quality of materials and attention to detail exhibited in what are now historic buildings - well, at least historic in reference to the relatively young age of the United States. Compared to other regions of the world, our western-region building is still classed as new construction. Click here to see a 1932 photo of the Romney Gym, still on the Bozeman, Montana, campus of Montana State University.
